Ingredients
- Lychees and blueberries: To make the eyeballs to float in the sangria.
- Lemon and apple: Sliced into the pitcher for a nice fresh and zingy flavor.
- Apple juice: For flavor and sweetness.
- Sugar: To balance out the acidity in the wine and lemon.
- Wine: Use your favorite white wine in this sangria. I like to use a savignon blanc, a dry white and one with notes of lemon or apple.
- Limoncello: For a bright lemon flavor. You can make your own limoncello or use store bought.
- Vodka: Your favorite brand.
- Green food coloring: For that spooky green color.
- Colored sugar: To rim the glasses. I used red, but black or green would work well!

Frequently Asked Questions
Sangria is the perfect make ahead pitcher. You'll want to let it sit in the fridge for at least 2 hours and up to 24 to let the flavors really develop.
This recipe uses two bottles of wine and will easily make 10 to 12 drinks, perfect if you have wine fiends for friends! You'll need a large 64 ounce / 2 liter jug to make this cocktail, or split it into two smaller jugs. The recipe is easily halved and doubled.
I prefer to use a dry and crisp white wine for sangria, but you can use a sweet one if you prefer. My choice would be a sauvignon blanc or pinot grigio. Pick a wine that has hints of lemon or apple so that it blends well with the limoncello and fruits.
Recipe Notes and Tips
- Don't add ice to the jug before you put it in the fridge. The ice will melt and dilute the drink. I like to pour the sangria over ice, or you can add ice to the jug just before serving.
- Use fresh and ripe fruit. Use firm apples like Granny Smith or Crispin.
- Leftover sangria will keep covered in the fridge for 2 to 3 days.
