Equipment

Ingredients

  • 2 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 1 inch ginger (grated or finely chopped)
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon oil (vegetable, canola or olive oil)
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 2 tuna steaks

Instructions

  • Mix together all of the ingredients, except the tuna steaks, in a ziplock bag or in a bowl.
  • Add the tuna steaks to the marinade and coat all over. Let sit for 10 to 15 minutes at room temperature.
  • Preheat your air fryer to 360F / 180c.
  • Place the tuna steaks in the air fryer for 5 minutes, flipping at 3 minutes.
  • After 5 minutes, your tuna steaks will be medium rare, if you prefer your tuna more well done, cook for 8 to 10 minutes.

Notes

  • Because the tuna only requires a short amount of time in the marinade, you can marinate them at room temperature.
  • Air fryer models can run slightly differently so the timings are a guideline. At 5 minutes the tuna steaks were a medium-rare. Increase the time to up to 10 minutes if you prefer them well done.
  • Preheat your air fryer before adding the steaks. If your air fryer doesn't have a preheat function, let it run at 360F for 5 minutes.
  • Flip the tuna halfway through cooking, so that they cook evenly.
