Instructions

  • Add the beef to a bowl, along with the other burger ingredients.
  • Use your hands to combine everything together.
  • Heat the oil in a griddle pan or skillet on a medium high heat.
  • Divide the burger mixture into 2 and shape into patties.
  • Once the oil is hot, add the patties to the grill pan. Cook for 4 to 5 minutes on each side til cooked through.
  • Serve the patties on buns with sour cream, guacamole and salsa, or, with your favorite toppings.

Notes

  • Nutritional information is based on the burger patties only, without the buns and toppings.
  • Mix together the burger ingredients with your hands so that everything is well combined. Don't over mix though, as this can lead to chewy burgers.
  • For a burger with a milder heat, skip or reduce the amount of jalapenos.
  • Let the beef come up to room temperature before cooking them. This will keep them nice and tender.
  • Let the burgers rest for a couple of minutes before serving them so that the juices have chance to redistribute throughout the patty.
  • If cooking on a grill or the stovetop, don't have the pan on a super high heat or the outside of the burger will be cooked before the middle is done.
