This Air Fryer Frozen Breaded Fish is a fantastic option when you're looking for a fast and easy weeknight dinner that is sure to please both kids and picky eaters. The fish fillets turn out beautifully crunchy and flakey, with a golden brown and crispy exterior that rivals deep-fried versions. What's more, preparing it is incredibly simple. With no prep work required, all you need is the frozen breaded fish straight from the package into the air fryer, and you're ready to go.

Another benefit of air frying is that it eliminates the need for oil, making it a healthier option compared to traditional frying methods. This not only cuts down on calories but also minimizes any greasiness.

Make sure you try these Air Fryer Spicy Breaded Shrimps and these Air Fryer Tuna Steaks.

    Ingredients

The only ingredient you need is your favorite frozen fish.

I used High Liner Southern Style Cod, but any brand like Gorton's, Trader Joe's, Kroger, Van de Kamp's, and so on, will work great.

You can also find other varieties of frozen breaded fish fillets, like tilapia, salmon, pollock, or sole.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Can you air fry battered fish?

Yes, if it's frozen. You can follow the same cooking time and directions of this recipe.

Do you defrost frozen fish before air frying it?

No, you don't need to. Simply put the fish in the air fryer basket straight from freezer.

How do you know when fish is cooked?

When it's done, the outer breading will turn golden brown and the temperature of the fish inside should be warm to the touch.

    Storage and Reheating

These air fried breaded cod fillets are best enjoyed straight away but if you have leftovers they can be stored in a closed container or covered with wrap in the fridge for up to 2 days.

Reheat for 5 minutes in the air fryer at 360F / 180C. I recommend only reheating them once for the best result.

    Recipe Notes and Tips

    • For best results, preheat your air fryer before adding the ingredients. If your air fryer doesn't have a preheat function, run it at 400F / 200c for 5 minutes before adding them in.
    • Cook the fish in a single layer. If you need to cook them in a couple of batches, you can keep the cooked ones in a warm oven until ready to serve.
    • The cooking time is a guide, as air fryer models can vary. Check for doneness after about 15 minutes.

This looks to be really helpful. I don't have a stove so the air fryer is my cooking device. I can't wait to try this.
