I'm a sucker for buffalo sauce, that tangy and spicy flavor is just so addictive!

These easy cauliflower steaks are coated in a buffalo and honey sauce and then oven roasted til the edges are slightly charred.

A super simple recipe that packs a punch in the flavor department, and it's so versatile that you can serve it as an appetizer, side or vegetarian main dish.

Served with ranch dressing, blue cheese crumbles and fresh chives, there is no bad time for these beauties!

    • So flavorful: When I made these I was actually blown away! The taste of the buffalo sauce comes out so well and isn't lost at all.
    • Simple and easy: Cut the cauliflower into steaks, heat up the sauce, coat and bake. The cooking time is all hands off.

    Ingredients

    • Cauliflower: Cut a whole cauliflower through the stalk to make thick steaks.
    • For the buffalo sauce: Butter, garlic powder, pepper, buffalo sauce and honey.
    • To serve: You can serve these straight out of the oven but I love to top them with some ranch dressing, blue cheese and chives.

    Recipe Variations

To make these buffalo cauliflower steaks vegan and dairy-free, swap the honey for maple and skip the ranch and blue cheese toppings. These have a pretty good kick of spice to them, but if you prefer things hotter you can add in some cayenne pepper to the buffalo sauce mix.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    Can you taste the cauliflower?

If you have some picky eaters in your house (or you are one!) then this is a good way to get the veggies in! Cauliflower is a very mild tasting vegetable, and the buffalo sauce totally hides it's flavor.

Can you make them into bites instead?

If you want to serve these as an appetizer, you may want to make them into smaller bites rather than steaks so that they can be served as finger food.

Cut the cauliflower into florets and then toss in the buffalo sauce before oven roasting. You can then serve them on a plate, top with the ranch, blue cheese and chives and serve.

How do you cut cauliflower steaks?

Remove the leaves from the stem, then slice the cauliflower in half through the core. Then, cut 1 to 1 ½ inch thick steaks. You'll get between two to four steaks depending on the size of your cauliflower. Keep any unused florets to use in soups or make cauliflower rice.

    Serving Suggestions

These buffalo cauliflower steaks are great to serve as a side dish to a main meal, but they are easily hearty enough to make them the star of the show. Serve them alongside veggie, potato and salad sides like:

    • Red Skinned Mash Potatoes
    • Tricolor Quinoa
    • Air Fryer Polenta Fries
    • Arugula and Berry Salad

However you decide to serve them, this cauliflower recipe is sure to be a hit!

    Storage and Reheating

These are best enjoyed as soon as they are made, so that the edges of the cauliflower are nice and crispy. If you do have leftovers, they will keep for around 2 to 3 days in an airtight container in the fridge. They reheat pretty well at 350F for 10 to 15 minutes to heat through.

    Recipe Notes and Tips

    • To make them in an air fryer, coat the cauliflower steaks in the buffalo sauce and then cook at 350F for 14 minutes, flipping halfway through.
    • Cut the steaks thick, about an inch to an inch and a half. As they are roasted they will get thinner as they lose some of their water.
    • Cut the steaks through the stalks so that they hold together. No worries if they fall apart, they'll still be delicious!
