I have many weaknesses when it comes to food, and cheese probably tops that list! When that cheese is warm, gooey and dippable I am full in!

Baked camembert is always a firm favorite, and this foolproof air fryer recipe could not be easier.

Baked to perfection in minutes, it's studded with sliced garlic for added flavor, and topped with cranberry sauce for a perfectly festive addition to any cheese board.

Why you will love this recipe!

    • Easy: There's really not much to this recipe. It's a great last minute appetizer if you have unexpected guests during the holidays.
    • Simple ingredients: You just need your wheel of camembert and you are pretty much good to go! I love to top it with leftover cranberry sauce to make it that little bit special.
    • Quick: Super simple to prep and quick to cook, this is a fuss free method to bake your camembert perfectly. You can easily whip it up on a moments notice.

    Ingredients

    • Camembert: Use a whole wheel of camembert for this recipe. If you can, buy one in a wooden box as this will cut down even further on your prep!
    • Garlic cloves: Thinly slice the garlic cloves and stud the cheese with them to add a hint of flavor. Optional but delicious!
    • Olive oil: Before baking I like to drizzle the camembert with a little oil. Again, this is optional, but it makes it extra tasty!
    • To serve: You can serve this straight up with crackers, but I do like to top it with some cranberry sauce, especially for a Christmas cheese board.

    Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to cook camembert in an air fryer?

Depending on what model air fryer you have, it will take around 8 to 10 minutes to bake the camembert before it is melted. When it is ready, it will be slightly puffy and soft to the touch. If you aren't sure, you can insert a knife into the top, it should go through the cheese easily with little resistance.

What happens if the camembert isn't in a wooden box?

A lot of camembert wheels come in wooden boxes, and they can be air fried right in the box, just remove any paper or plastic linings first. If it doesn't come in a box, you can make a basket with a piece of foil and place the camembert in it to cook.

Can you air fry wedges of camembert?

Use wheel of camembert for this recipe rather than wedges. Camembert really melts and gets gooey, the rind of the wheel contains this until you cut it open. If you bake wedges, the cheese will melt everywhere.

    Can you eat the rind?

Yes! The skin of the camembert is one of the most delicious pieces and it's totally safe to eat.

Can you make this recipe with brie?

Brie and camembert are both soft cheeses, and you can make this with a wheel of brie. Camembert has a richer and deeper flavor, but both will work for this recipe.

    Storage

These air fryer camembert is best served as soon as it is baked so that the cheese is nice and soft. As the cheese cools it will harden so this is a make it and eat it type of recipe.

    Serving

I love to top the baked camembert with some cranberry sauce, I always have some to hand during the holidays! Try topping it with the following for different flavor combinations:

    • Fresh herbs: Thyme, sage or rosemary.
    • Fruits: Dried fruits work great, or serve with some apple slices to dip.
    • Sauces: Jams and chutneys all work great!
    • Nuts: Crushed walnuts or pecans add a great crunchy texture.

Serve up with a variety of crackers and vegetable sticks for dipping.

    Recipe Notes and Tips

    • If using, slice the garlic thinly before adding to the camembert so that it's not too overpowering.
    • Preheat the air fryer before adding the cheese so that the middle of the cheese heats through. If your air fryer doesn't have a preheat function, let it run at 350F for 5 minutes first.
    • Different air fryer models can run slightly differently so timings may vary slightly. I made this in my 6qt basket air fryer.
