    Ingredients

    • Fireball whiskey: This cinnamon flavored whiskey works so well with the flavors of maple and apple.
    • Maple syrup: Maple syrup has an earthy and woodsy sweetness. The complex flavor sits wonderfully with the other ingredients. In a pinch, you can also use honey.
    • Lemon juice: A little lemon juice helps to balance out the sweet flavors in this cocktail.
    • Apple cider: The cocktail is topped off with apple cider and makes it perfectly sip-able. Apple juice can also be used.

How to make a pitcher cocktail

You can easily scale up this Fireball whiskey cocktail recipe to make a pitcher cocktail. It's a great option for a make ahead Thanksgiving drink.

For a 6 drink pitcher, use:

    • 12 ounces Fireball whiskey
    • 6 ounces maple syrup
    • Juice of ½ lemon
    • Apple cider

Add the whiskey, maple syrup and lemon juice to pitcher and stir together well so that the ingredients are well mixed. Top up with the apple cider. You can then serve right away by adding ice to the pitcher and pouring, or, place in the fridge and keep covered and ice just before serving.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Can you make this cocktail with another whiskey?

The cinnamon flavor of Fireball whiskey works so well with the other fall flavors of maple and apple, but you can substitute it if you'd like. A bourbon like Jack Daniels would work really well, and it wouldn't be terrible if you made this with a Scotch or Irish whiskey, it just wouldn't have the hints of cinnamon.

    Is this a strong drink?

This apple cider whiskey cocktail contains 2 ounces of whiskey, so it will certainly give you a buzz, though it is very easy to drink! To make a lighter drink, half the amount of whiskey and maple syrup and top up with more apple cider.

    Can you make it sparking?

If you prefer your cocktails on the fizzy side, you can replace the apple cider with a sparking apple drink like Appletiser. If you are making a pitcher ahead of time, don't add it til you are ready to serve.

    Cocktail Garnishes

You can of course enjoy this Fireball whiskey cocktail without garnishes, but adding them adds to the aroma and can enhance the flavors. I used a cinnamon stick to garnish, but you can easily add others like sliced apple, star anise or fresh cranberries to make it extra festive.

    Recipe Notes and Tips

    • If you don't have a cocktail shaker, use a mason jar and use that to shake the whiskey and maple syrup together.
    • Shake the cocktail with ice so it's nice and chilled. Shake for a good 30 seconds so that everything is blended and ice cold.
    • Pour the cocktail into a whiskey glass with large ice cubes. Small ice cubes or crushed ice will quickly dilute the drink.
