This flavoured water recipe is infused with lemon, mint and ginger for a refreshing drink. This is a great non-alcoholic option for a party, hydrates the skin and also has weight loss benefits.

I feel like trying to drink more water should be so much easier, I mean,  eight glasses a day seems like so much...eight glasses of wine however..!! I realised that all of a sudden I was drinking way too much coffee, so have made a concerted effort to cut back on the caffeine and get more water into my life, and this flavoured water has definitely helped!

I nearly didn't put this recipe up as it's so easy, but it's become part of my daily routine, tastes delicious and definitely helps reach that eight glasses a day target!

Is drinking infused water good for you?

Unless you've been living on the moon, you know that we need water! Although we get water through our food, it's dead easy to get dehydrated, resulting in headaches and fatigue.  Water keeps you alert, plumps your skin and can stop you feeling hungry and reaching for snacks (hunger pains are often a sign of thirst - who knew?!).  This flavored water keeps drinking water from becoming boring, and it also comes with extra benefits from the added ingredients.  There are no added sugars or flavors - all natural, all good for you.

Flavoured water with real fruits and herbs

Homemade flavoured, or infused water, is a great alternative to store bought as there are no added preservatives or sugars and you know exactly what goes into it.  For those of you who love the diet soda, this is a great alternative and a tonne healthier.  It gives you that hit of flavor you crave but without all off the nasties.

When should I drink infused water?

I like to make a batch of flavoured water in the evening, then pop it in the fridge overnight, that way you give it a good amount of time for the flavors to infuse and you have something refreshing to drink first thing in the morning to rehydrate. You can drink it within 2 - 4 hours if you make it in the day.  I also tend to to top up the water after my first few gulps and pop in back in the fridge as there's still a tonne of good nutrients in there.

How to make infused water at home

Making this flavoured water couldn't be any easier.  Simply pop the ingredients into a mason jar, fill up with water and put in the fridge for a couple of hours - I don't think I've done an easier recipe! The water will keep in the fridge for 2 - 4 days (depending on how fresh your fruit and herbs are).

I am type 2, on new medication that has spoiled my taste for things including plain water. (Which I had no trouble drinking before) My nutrionist has recommended alittle ginger infused water but your suggestionsounds even better.
