    Ingredients

    • Banana: Use an overripe banana as they are naturally sweeter as well as containing more antioxidants. Rich in vitamins B6 and C, they are a great source of fiber and potassium.
    • Raspberries: Rich in vitamins, minerals, fiber, antioxidants and anti-inflammatories. These little berries are a great addition to any well balanced diet.
    • Greek Yogurt: As well as adding extra protein to this smoothie, Greek yogurt is also a great source of calcium, potassium, zinc and vitamin B.
    • Milk: You can use any kind of milk you'd like for this recipe. I used 2% but any plant based milk like almond, coconut or oat will work great too.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Can you make smoothies ahead of time?

It's best to drink smoothies as soon as you've made them. Once the fruits are blended, they start to oxidize and will slowly start to lose their nutrients.

If you can't drink the smoothie straight away, keep it covered in the fridge and enjoy it within 24 hours.

Can you use fresh or frozen fruit?

When I make smoothies I prefer to use frozen fruit, that way, you don't need to add in ice, which can dilute the drink. It also means that you can enjoy the smoothie anytime.

If you have over ripe bananas, just pop them in the freezer. This slows down the browning process and they are ready to use. Frozen banana also makes the smoothie more creamy in texture.

Fresh fruits are obviously fine to use in this raspberry banana smoothie too. You may want to add a couple of ice cubes into the blender, or pour it over ice to serve.

Can you have this smoothie for breakfast?

I prefer to enjoy this smoothie as a mid afternoon pick me up. If you want to have it for breakfast, try adding in half a cup of oats to boost the calories and protein to keep you going til lunch.

    Recipe Notes and Tips

    • Make your smoothie sweeter by adding some honey, maple syrup or liquid stevia. Use a liquid sweetener rather than sugar granules as it will mix with the rest of the ingredients much easier.
    • Make it vegan by using a plant based milk and yogurt.
    • If you don't have a high speed blender, blend the smoothie for a good couple of minutes to get rid of any bits.
